Empire State Building Shines Green for Eid

Happy Eid, I think is a correct expression.

It's Eid-al-Fitr, or Eid ul-Fitr, or Id-Ul-Fitr or عيد الفطر, or Eid: the end of Ramadan.

And the Empire State Building is lit up in green, to commemorate the time. It was green back on the the 9th, too, in honor of the New York Restoration Project and NYC Parks Department - Million Trees NYC.

Not that the Empire State Building lights up for just anything. Those lights are reserved for special occasions, like Christmas, Hanukkah, and New York winning the World Series.

All of which doesn't have much to do with the war on terror.

Except that I think it's enlightening to compare America, particularly the Big Apple, to a very Muslim country like Saudi Arabia. America and the West is supposed to be oppressing Muslims? Unless lighting up the Empire State Building is imperialistic?

I hope that the Empire State Building shines greenly for St. Patrick's Day. Otherwise, there could be a lot of irate Irishmen!

Most people will think it’s just like Saint Patty’s Day.

Over at Israpundit, http://www.israpundit.com/2006/?p=5956 , they would call this an example of “The Green Plague". That’s what they say Islamification should be called.

So therefore, “STOP THE GREEN PLAGUE!". Spread the word!
